What are the symptoms of dry skin?

Dry skin is a common issue that can be temporary or require long-term treatment. The signs and symptoms vary based on factors like age, health, and environment. From itchiness to fine lines, dry skin can affect anyone.

What causes dry skin?

Dry skin is caused by water loss from the outer layer of your skin. There are several factors that can contribute to this, including heat sources like central heating and fireplaces, environmental conditions like cold weather or low humidity, excessive bathing or harsh soaps, certain skin conditions and medical treatments, as well as the natural aging process.

How to treat dry skin?

You can treat your dry skin with simple tips like moisturising throughout the day, especially on your hands, using a suncream of at least SPF30 when going outside, using gentle soaps as well as keeping showers and baths short. Applying moisturiser while your skin is still damp will help give you maximum hydration. Ask our pharmacy team for advice on your dry skin.
