What is the Wegovy weight loss pill?

The daily weight loss pill works similarly to the Mounjaro and Wegovy weekly injections by improving feelings of fullness, reducing cravings, and regulating blood sugar levels.

This new approach to weight loss means people who may have been hesitant to use weight loss injections now have an option that may work for them to achieve their health goals*.

This treatment is generally suitable for adults with a BMI of 30kg/m² or more, and those with a BMI between 27-30kg/m² who have weight-related health conditions such as heart problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and prediabetes.

What are the side effects of the Wegovy weight loss pill?

The Wegovy weight loss pill is not currently available in the UK and will only be available through specialist NHS clinics with strict eligibility criteria. However, free consultations will be available online and at your local pharmacy, where you can discuss private treatment and check if you’re eligible for the Wegovy weight loss pill.

What to eat whilst taking the Wegovy weight loss pill

The Wegovy weight loss pill will only work effectively when you maintain a healthy diet. This includes your five-a-day, plenty of protein, fibre, and other nutrients. Your pharmacist will help you plan a realistic diet for your weight loss journey.

How to take the Wegovy weight loss pill

  • The Wegovy weight loss pill should be taken on an empty stomach after an eight-hour fasting period.
  • The pills should be swallowed with a sip of water (up to half a glass, equivalent to 120ml)
  • Do not split, crush, or chew the pills as this can impact absorption.
  • You should wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking any other oral medicines. Not waiting may decrease absorption.
  • Adherence to the dosing regimen is recommended for optimal effectiveness.

What if I miss a dose of the Wegovy weight loss pill?

If you miss a day whilst taking the Wegovy weight loss pill, you should continue as normal the following day.

If you miss multiple days in a row, please contact your pharmacist for advice.
