A group of healthy young people

Meningitis B is a serious infection that can develop suddenly and cause life‑threatening illness. Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself or your child.

Young people starting college or university are at higher risk because they mix closely with new people, making it easier for infection to spread. Our private Meningitis B vaccination service offers quick, convenient protection for students and anyone wanting extra peace of mind.

  • Per Dose: £110
  • Doses per course: 2-3
  • Price per course: £220 - £330

How many doses will I need?

Most aged 2 years and over will need two doses.  If you require further doses this will be discussed with your Health Care Professional at your appointment.

What vaccines are available in the service?

Bexsero® - this is for individuals who are from 2 years to 50 years of age.

Trumenba® - this is for individuals who are between 10 and 64 years of age.

Can I get the Meningitis B vaccine for free?

Usually, no.
The private Meningitis B vaccine is for people who are not eligible for the free NHS programme.

On the NHS, the MenB vaccine is normally only offered to:

  • Babies born on or after 1 September 2015 (as part of routine immunisations), or
  • People in certain high‑risk clinical groups.

If you were born before September 2015, you would not have received the vaccine as part of routine childhood immunisations and would normally need to get it privately.

Can I still choose the private service if I am eligible on the NHS?

Yes. Eligible patients can still be vaccinated privately in-pharmacy if that is more convenient.

If you believe you may be entitled to a free NHS vaccination, please speak to your GP.

If someone has symptoms of meningitis, what should I do?

If you or anyone you know develops symptoms of meningitis, seek medical attention immediately. Meningitis can worsen very quickly, and early treatment is essential to reduce the risk of serious complications.

Does the Meningitis B vaccine protect against all types of meningitis?

No. The Meningitis B vaccine only protects against meningococcal group B.
It does not protect against other meningococcal strains such as A, C, W or Y. Separate vaccines are available for these types.  See our MenACWY service and book an appointment
