Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the Meningitis ACWY vaccine cost?

Per Dose: £60

Doses per schedule: 1

Protection: 5 years

Can I get the Meningitis ACWY vaccine for free?

No, not usually.

The private Meningitis ACWY vaccine is for people who do not qualify for the free NHS vaccination. On the NHS, it is normally offered for free up to age 25 if it was missed at school or as part of routine immunisations.  If you are eligible to receive a free NHS vaccination, you must speak to your GP.

Can I still use the private service if I am eligible on the NHS?

Yes. Even if you are eligible for the NHS vaccine, you can still choose to have it privately at Rowlands Pharmacy if that is more convenient for you.

If someone has symptoms of meningitis, what should I do?

If you or anyone you know develops symptoms of meningitis, seek medical attention immediately. Meningitis can worsen very quickly, and early treatment is essential to reduce the risk of serious complications.

Does the Meningitis ACWY vaccine protect against all types of meningitis?

No. The Meningitis ACWY vaccine only protects against the A, C, W or Y strains. If you are seeking the MenB vaccine, see our MenB service and book an appointment.

Do you provide the MenACWY certificate when travelling for Hajj or Umrah?

Yes.  You will receive an approved MenACWY vaccination certificate that can be used for entry into Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah.
